Rebuild Aid Foreningen | Humanitarian Aid & Community Recovery
Rebuilding lives through humanitarian assistance, resilience, and sustainable recovery
Following the recent earthquake in Kunar Province, Rebuild Aid Forening, as the grant holder and lead organization, supported the provision of emergency cash assistance to 200 earthquake‑affected and vulnerable families. The intervention was implemented in Afghanistan by Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO) as Rebuild Aid’s local implementing partner.
The assistance was delivered under the project
“Cash Assistance for Protection and Sheltering of Earthquake‑Affected Families in Kunar Province”,
with financial support from the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF).
The purpose of the intervention was to alleviate immediate economic pressure, support access to basic needs, and assist families who lost shelter, livelihoods, and economic security as a result of the earthquake. Cash assistance enabled households to prioritize urgent needs according to their specific circumstances.
Prior to implementation, SUAO conducted a comprehensive field‑based needs assessment to identify eligible households. Priority was given to families facing the highest levels of vulnerability, including female‑headed households, unaccompanied children, persons with disabilities, chronically ill individuals, and other highly marginalized groups. This ensured a transparent, fair, and needs‑based distribution process.
The cash distribution took place on 18 January 2026, with the participation of representatives from the Kunar Provincial Directorate of Economy, district authorities, community representatives, and local media. Each of the 200 families received 11,680 AFN in cash assistance, delivered in a secure and well‑organized manner.
Through this intervention, Rebuild Aid Forening reaffirms its commitment to delivering principled, locally led humanitarian assistance in close partnership with trusted Afghan organizations, strengthening community resilience in times of crisis.
